THE DEW OF LITTLE THINGS
2018
‘For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed’ (Khalil Gibran, The Prophet).
In examining relationships between people beside the mundane, comes a discussion of one’s appreciation of ‘the little things’. This discussion is prompted by the contemporary style of life, where one is constantly seeking. Seeking for gratification, something 'else', something beyond the present moment. A cycle of ceaseless desire ensues.

This project seeks to focus on little mundane moments, which have been made permanent and un-moving through the painting medium. My aim is to recall appreciation for the mundane moments which are able to refresh us from chronic dissatisfaction, as Gibran explores.
I am inspired by my own fallibility to focus on the little things in life. I have painted moments from my memories of my everyday life, and of my experience of being in a relationship with someone whose presence should have curbed thoughts beyond the present moment together. This project represents a process of re-finding the morning; the little things to stop the cycle of ceaseless desire beyond the present moment.
