Yvette Kiddle was born in Sydney, Australia to a Korean mother, Australian father, and Buddhist theology. Her understanding of life and relationships were deeply influenced by the conflicting cultural expectations of her parents' relationship. She developed an interest in ways of thinking and philosophy. Considering love, interactions with others, education and convention, Kiddle's works have sought to express what is real in relation to what it is to be human and experience emotion.
